BEHIND THE STORY

ANISUR RAHMAN

Founder, Bangla Natural Agro Ltd.

WHY NAMED IKEBANA?

Inspired by Japanese aromatherapist T. Shinohara, Ikebana officially began its journey in 2015, driven by a long-term vision. However, the seed of this dream was planted back in 2007 when Anisur Rahman, the visionary behind Ikebana, was in Japan. On a Japanese friend’s suggestion, he named his dream “Ikebana.”

Ikebana is the centuries-old Japanese art of flower arranging. It goes beyond merely creating something beautiful; it involves using flowers, branches, and other natural elements to craft an arrangement that embodies harmony, balance, and a deep connection to nature.

WHY SOAP MAKING?

After graduating in Management from The Dhaka College, Anisur Rahman joined a multinational company as a marketer. Despite his promising career, he felt unfulfilled working for someone else. Anisur aspired to establish his own business but was uncertain about which path to take. He cycled through several jobs in a short span of time, seeking the right fit.

In 2007, Anisur had the opportunity to attend a trade fair in Japan on behalf of his company. Unlike the other participants who returned home after the event, Anisur’s journey took an unexpected turn. At the fair, he encountered Japanese aromatherapist T. Shinohara. This meeting was transformative for Anisur; he was captivated by Shinohara’s handmade soaps and became an avid admirer of his craft.

Inspired by Shinohara, Anisur decided to learn the art of soap making. He immersed himself in the process under Shinohara’s guidance and returned home with a newfound passion and expertise. Thus, the journey of Ikebana began.
